Welcome to Genesee Valley Regional Virtual History Day
The public health and safety of our students, teachers, and judges is a top priority of the Genesee Valley Regional History Day Contest. In light of current concerns regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, we have made the decision to suspend the in-person contest and convert the 2021 contest to an online format. This means there will be no in-person contest in March of 2021.
Because the contest will be held this new way, projects will require special formatting to be submitted to a virtual contest. There are new requirements for Exhibits and Performances. There is a New Rule Book and Judging Rubric. Please familiarize yourself with this new information.
On-line registration takes place from January 20-Febraury 10, 2020.
Judging will take place from Febraury-15-March 4, 2020.
Contest results will be anounced on March 5.
Students' Main Page
A lot of changes are taking place for our contest in 2021. We are holding a virtual contest and as a result, there will be new requirements for entry submissions, particularly for Exhibit and Performances. There is also a NEW Rule book and Judging Rubric. Please familiarize yourself with this new information.
Registration: Once your teacher has created their account you can begin creating your own account. When you registered, you should select your teacher's name. This will connect the two accounts and give your teacher access to your registration information.
You will add the information for your entry when you register. If you are working in a group you will either create an entry or link to a group project that your teammate has already created. The first student in a group will create the entry. When that info is saved, the entry is given a “team key,” a unique number code. That student will then give the “team key” to the other group members. The following group members will begin a student account and will enter the “team key” for their entry. Doing so will bring up the title and description for their entry that was filled out by the group member who created the entry. They confirm and are then linked to the entry.
Make sure to include all required PDFs and URL links for your project entry.

Teachers need to create their registration accounts first before students can. Once you are done, instruct students to create their own student accounts. During the student registration, students select their teacher and this will connect the two accounts, giving teachers access to their students' registration information.
Judges' Main Page
Judges are vital to History Day. We look for someone with an interest in history and a desire to work with students. Those interested in becoming a judge should contact Jennifer Haines, Genesee Valley Region Coordinator, at (585)294-8216 or email email@example.com.
